Client: Easter Seals Arkansas
Location: Little Rock, AR
Size: 43,558 SF
Cost: $11 M
Date of Construction: 2012
The design repurposed a 43,558 square foot, big-box space and provided new programmatic functions for the ESA – including home skills training; physical, emotional fitness, and support spaces; educational and art classes; business and administrative areas; and a warehouse area that accommodated a shredding business that helped generate revenue to support the facility.
Included in the design was a commercial grade kitchen and dining area approximately 10,000 square feet in size. This required collaborative equipment selection with client group, and thorough coordination with all design disciplines to ensure that adequate support and access to HVAC, Fire Protection, Natural Gas, Lighting, and Power systems were accommodated.

An Integrative Process
Highly collaborative design and construction process between the ESA group, contractor, and design team to facilitate fast-track project execution allowed the design team to provide separate bid packages for site/civil work, below slab utilities, structural steel, roof replacement, and building packages; and accommodated the clients desire to reduce the construction timeline and expedite occupation of the facility.
